News - May 2009

Hi, District Directors!

I recently read Proverbs 25 in the Message. It struck me how much leadership wisdom is packed into verses 3-15! The writer speaks of understanding, character, purity, motivation, self-control, results, persistence, and so much more. All this is packed into just 12 verses. This passage challenged and encouraged me. May I be so bold as to insist you take a few moments to read and reflect on these verses. As the Lord directs, perhaps they would be instructive as you share them with the organizational leaders within your district or sphere of influence.

Know that I love and appreciate each of you and pray for you continually! Together we are “influencing more boys and young men than ever, more effectively than ever!”

Ranger Orientation LTA Module Callback

After reviewing the Ranger Orientation LTA module on the ‘08-‘09 LTA Training CD, the national training department would like to discontinue teaching this module until it can be revised. It was developed and released just before our office redefined how we are presenting our vision, mission, values, and methods. It will also need to reflect our Royal Rangers culture and terminology as presented at the last two National Councils. We do not believe that this module in its current format will best represent how we want to present Royal Rangers to pastors and church leadership who have little or no background in our ministry. Please pass this information on to your district training coordinator and instructors so they can pull it from the LTA modules being taught in your district.

LTA and ICS Materials Available Online

The national training office will be placing the current LTA and ICS material on our website under a secure document access system, AG Passport. Access to this information will help keep updated training information available to instructors without the need to get updated CD’s from you district training coordinator. Our goal is to have this information on the web and accessible by July 15, 2009.

In order to set up access to this system, we will need the following information before we can grant access privileges to this secure link.

• An approved list of all currently certified CI’s and IT’s from each district. This will need to come from either the district training coordinator or district director. The national training office will provide an Excel template of the information we need.

As the district director or district training coordinator, you will need to cascade the information below to your CI’s and IT’s.

• Each trainer will need to set up his own AG Passport login.

• Simply creating an AG Passport login will not give you automatic access. You must request access to the secure site by sending an email with your user name to the national Royal Rangers office at rangers@ag.org.

• The national office will confirm your training status from the list provided by the district. Only those on the official training list will be granted access to the secure site. (If the national office does not have any information from the district, they will not be able to grant approval until confirmation comes from the district director or training coordinator.)

• Once your status is confirmed, the national office will inform AG Passport to grant you access to the training material for which you qualify.

As you can see this can be a great way to provide current training material to the training staff in your district. Because the national office does not keep current records of CI’s or IT’s, we must be provided a current CI and IT list from the districts.

It will be necessary for this list to be updated each year, and we can add or drop names as we receive updates throughout the year from the district director or training coordinator.

Thank you in advance for helping make this process work.
