Dear District Director’s and Executive Committee Members,
I’ve been praying a lot for you and for this powerful ministry of which we are privileged to be a part!
First Chronicles 28 speaks of the construction plans God gave King David for the temple. Verse 19 speaks to us, “God gave me understanding in all the details of the plan.”
In the same way, God wants to give you a clear vision of His preferred future for your district or region. I say this to encourage you to continue your assessments as a team this summer and fall. Through it pray because God wants to reveal His designs to you.
One district director shared with me that it was very challenging to interview a pastor who had dropped Rangers recently yet, conversely, that it was extremely gratifying to interview another who had just launched. He learned so much from each interview. The Holy Spirit anoints knowledge and preparation.
God is preparing us for greater influence and effectiveness! He is the master designer, we His labor force. God is building-up this house (ministry); your thorough efforts will produce eternal results (Ps. 127:1).
As you and your team members do the districts assessments, I pray, “God will give you understanding in all the details of the plan.” As you do your part, He will!
Doug Marsh

PS—The assessment questions and guidelines are found in the National Council & Conference magazine received in March 2009.
NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
ONLINE CHARTERING
Online chartering will launch August 15, 2009.
In the next few weeks, the national team will reinforce the communication the district teams have already begun (per our discussions at the National Director’s Roundtable in March). One letter will be directed to pastors co-signed by Doug Marsh and Alton Garrison, the assistant general superintendent and executive director of Church Ministries. Another letter will be directed to senior commanders signed by Doug Marsh, and the third will be a self-mailer of the chartering brochure.
By August 1, the national ministry website will have a video tutorial that shows outposts how to use the new chartering process.
To make our transition from paper chartering to online chartering a total success, we would please ask each district to prioritize the following between now and August 15:
1. Mobilize your leadership network and make personal contact (face-to-face whenever possible) with every outpost, encouraging them to charter online August 15 and to start enjoying the new benefits.
Online chartering reduces the district’s paperwork but increases its people work. Please leverage your proximity to outposts to inform and to encourage our leaders to charter August 15.
2. Create a follow-up plan to call every outpost that has not chartered by September 15. The district director and chartering coordinator will be able to pull reports to know who has and who has not chartered.
3. Pray that God will help us make this a smooth and positive transition so that the immediate benefits are felt and the future benefits can be developed. Our heart is to deliver great value in chartering!
SW REGIONAL COORDINATOR APPOINTED
As many of you know, Fred Ladage felt led of the Lord to step aside as regional coordinator of the Southwest region. He served ably for 4 years. I want to acknowledge Fred’s capable leadership and thank him for his service. He will remain active in his local outpost and in the Rocky Mountain district. When you get a chance, please join me in thanking Fred for the years of experience and wisdom he brought to the Executive Royal Rangers Committee and for the servant leadership habitudes he modeled before each district in the region. (ftladage@bresnan.net)
After consulting with various leaders and speaking with a number of potential candidates in an effort to fill the vacancy with God’s choice, I believe the Lord has identified His man for the position. I am pleased to announce that the Executive Presbytery has ratified the Executive Leadership Team’s approval to appoint Mike Laliberty, our former national training coordinator, to serve as the new Southwest regional coordinator effective immediately.
Mike needs no introduction; we know him well and respect him completely. I want to thank him for his willingness to step up to the plate and serve as a member of the national team and Executive Committee. Please drop Mike a note and welcome him to this new role. (mlaliberty@q.com)
Please make it a matter of routine to pray for Mike and the other members of the national team. Also, please pray for the upcoming joint Mountainmen and Plainsmen Territorial Rendezvous.
MISSIONS
Decide today to be a part of a great year for missions in Royal Rangers:
ROYAL RANGERS INTERNATIONAL
Find 7 churches to support the RRI READY Evangelism Force at $35/month. Visit www.RoyalRangersInternational.com for downloadable support materials and videos.
PATHFINDER MISSIONS
Plan ahead and rally a team of men to “build God’s Kingdom the hard way,” doing construction projects at home and abroad. Visit www.PathfinderMissions.com for projects and guidelines.
BGMC & STL
Royal Rangers is already experiencing record missions giving through the Master’s Toolbox and Speed The Light Christmas Project, and we want you to be a part. Over the next month, sit down with your staff and brainstorm ways your district can get more involved in giving to spread the gospel around the world. The Word can’t go unless we send it.
TRAINING
This year is the last chance for leaders to attend NTC and ANTC. There are still several being held this year. If leaders in your district have always wanted to go, then encourage them to go now. WCO is using new revised information, and all local outpost leadership teams are encouraged to attend one near them.
RANGER GEAR INFORMATION
The new utility uniforms are flying off the shelves!
A number of individuals have been inquiring as to the status of the new uniform insignia patches and pins. We are pleased to announce that when the new Royal Rangers/GPH catalog is delivered next month the new insignia will be included and become available. We encourage you to get the new patches and insignia on your dress and utility uniforms as soon as possible so that you can show the way in your district.
A number of questions have come up concerning the availability of Ranger Kids advancement patches. Unfortunately, many people received a “discontinued item” notice when ordering online as well as when placing orders over the phone. The Ranger Kids advancements have not been discontinued but have been redesigned and have new item numbers. Unfortunately, there was a lag time between some of the patches becoming unavailable and the replacement patches being ready, which caused some alarm. This has been taken care of and the patches are now available for purchase.
