News - April 2010

Dear District Directors,

It’s April; spring is here!

Thank you again for attending LEAD 2010! The survey results have been tabulated and assessed and your support and satisfaction is reassuring. You might be interested to know the specific results to the final question: “Rank up to three influences that caused you to first become involved in Royal Rangers leadership.” The responses will help you better influence potential leaders. The top three influences were:

1. Relationship:

  • 67% said their pastor was one of the top three influencers
  • 46% said a friend was one of the top three influencers
  • 37% said their son was one of the top three influencers

2. 31% of you indicated your participation in Royal Rangers as a boy/young man was the primary influence that later drew you into leadership as an adult.

3. 18.5% of you credited advertisement (such as print ads) or instructional efforts (such as presentations at a conference) with attracting you to Royal Rangers.

Our challenge as a ministry is to leverage these factors to increase the number of leaders. After all, the more men that involve themselves in Rangers, the more boys and young men we are able to mentor.

CAMPORAMA STRESS BALLS

Per your request in the district director’s breakaway, we will order Camporama stress balls in various colors. The cost is $0.64 each; your order must be placed by APRIL 8. TRAINING

The national Royal Rangers web site has updated training information for the following:

Outpost Leader Advancement Levels (OLAL), Organizational Leadership Training Levels, transition from LMA to OLAL Advanced level, and Medal of Excellence requirements. Please review this information to stay current to training options.

The new Ranger Essentials course is now available to certified instructors through AGPassport. The revised Ranger Basics will be available after April 15, 2010, through AGPassport. All districts need to send in a current list of CI’s and IT’s if you have not already done so. This is needed to correctly grant access to training information on AGPassport.

Current LMA requirements can be completed until December 31, 2010. Contact your regional training coordinator for answers to training questions.

TRAINING BANNERS AND PATCHES

Ranger Essentials Training Banner Sets are still available for $100 per set as well as a few of the RE certificates for $3.75 per 25.

The Ranger Essentials patches (729900), Ranger Basic Patches (729899), and Ranger Safety Patches (729901) can be ordered through GPH.

If you have any questions regarding these or any other items, please contact JR Whinery at jwhinery@ag.org or 417.862.2781 x4190.

News - March 2010, part 2

District Directors,

Thank you for attending LEAD 2010. We continue to receive very positive and encouraging feedback. Our best days are ahead; God plans for Royal Rangers to “influence more, more effectively!”  We Pentecostals have been accused of being strong on events and weak on process. Your follow-up using the Excellence Initiative materials will make LEAD 2010 an event that sparks a continual ministry improvement process. Your disciplined efforts will prepare your district to achieve new heights.

The adage is true: “If you always do what you have always done you will always get what you have always gotten.” I’m excited! God has called you and me to lead at such a time as this; He is guiding us into an amazing future of new habits and new victories to reach a whole new generation of boys and young men.

Be encouraged; the journey ahead will, yes, require focus and consistent effort, but it will be fun because winning is fun! Start immediately! Pray, select your team, and jump into the reading. Don’t put it off.

Here is a suggested timetable. Accelerate if you wish, but at least meet this schedule:

·  April – June 2010: Prayerfully select team and have each member complete the reading (Good to Great by Jim Collins, Leading at a Higher Level by Ken Blanchard, and the Excellence Initiative magazine; plus, Church Marketing 101 by Richard Reising for district director and outreach coordinator).

·  July – September 2010: Meet as a team and discuss the books read and the following EI articles: “Royal Rangers: The Premier Church Ministry for Next Generation Men,” “Disciplined Leaders + Disciplined Thought + Disciplined Action = Momentum,” and “Developing Level 5 Leaders in Royal Rangers.” Then assess the Context triad. Capture the “gaps” you identify and the goals you set in your Excellence Initiative Ministry Plan.

·  October – December 2010: Meet as a team, review the journey thus far, and assess the Leadership triad. Carefully review the “Mentoring Future Men” booklet and brochure and the Royal Rangers Branding Guide. Capture the “gaps” you identify and the goals you set in your Excellence Initiative Ministry Plan

·  January – March 2011: Meet as a team, review the journey thus far, and assess the Results triad. Capture the “gaps” you identify and the goals you set in your Excellence Initiative Ministry Plan

·  April – June 2011: Meet as a team, review the journey thus far, and assess the Dashboard. Capture the “gaps” you identify and the goals you set in your Excellence Initiative Ministry Plan

·  July 2011: Turn your Excellence Initiative Ministry Plan into the national office; it will be included in the student materials at the Excellence Initiatives taught in the fall.

If you have questions, you can either contact your regional coordinator or me. The next 18 months will grow you and your team to grow the district.

Let’s do it! Let’s impact future men with the power of the gospel!
